Sabhuku Vharazipi 2

One of the most successful projects to ever come out of Masvingo. A Magical Films production in Association with Nelned Pictures. Sabhuku Vharazipi 2 is presented by Ziya cultural arts. It premiered on 31 October at the Ster-Kinekor Eastgate Cinemas in Harare, Zimbabwe, and on 31 January in United Kingdom via Zollywood Zimbabwe platform. The films stars David Mubaiwa, Wellington Chindara, Kumbirai Chikonye, Dennis Rusoso and Veronica Susupenzi.

The Masvingo Tourist

This is a magazine programme that features a presenter touring Masvingo’s places of interest and introducing the world to the cultural wealth of the Province. The tour includes visits to hotels and lodges, arts and crafts centres, wild parks and tourist attractions as well as to places of cultural and historic interest. It stars a vivacious young woman Linda Macheka.  the project pilot was short in February 2014.

Wezhira TV Project Goal and Objectives

GOALS

· To raise awareness of filmmaking in the community and promote filming, allowing filmmakers to be the best they can be.

· To raise awareness of filmmaking as a way of record keeping and promoting regular recording of cultural activities.

· To raise awareness of the benefits of storytelling – The passing down of stories through generations is probably the single most important link to knowing about the past and ancestral history. Story telling is also an important way of passing on messages.

· To raise awareness of the benefits of the film industry and promote participation for community development.

· To promote filmmaking as a career choice.

· To give livelihood to the artist and the unemployed through film.

OBJECTIVES

· By the end of the induction programmes, Wezhira TV will be the most watched local product in Masvingo Province.

· In the next year, the number of people in the community involved in filmmaking will have quadrupled.

· By the end of the year, the quality of products produced in the province would have reached broadcast level standards.

· In the half year period Wezhira TV will be offering continuous professional training and assistance to all filmmakers in the province.

· By the end of the year the filmmaking industry in the province will be employing salaried individuals.

Wezhira TV Project Vision

· As we move towards our goal of raising awareness of filmmaking, we will support research on a provincial scale. Locally, our association will service the research needs of the learning community, granting access to many informational and material resources.

· We will engage in sustainable practices and anticipate the needs of the community from a filmmaker’s perspective. We will maximize participation while still maintaining quality productions.

· Our vision is to bring our community into the 21st century through innovation and modern technology. Learning will be enhanced with computer software and educational videos that will allow filmmakers and aspiring filmmakers to proceed at their own rate according to their ability.

· Ultimately we would like to reach a potential of managing a professional 24 hour programming channel that will eventually graduate into a fully-fledged digital channel aligning with national goals.

Wezhira TV Project Summary

Wezhira TV is the making, collection and showcasing of video products from the Masvingo province in Zimbabwe by various filmmakers. It is spearheaded and directed by Magical Films Productions the producers of ‘Sabhuku Vharazipi 2’ and co-producers of the 2014 award nominated feature film ‘Through the Night’. The products being showcased range from Business, Nature and Cultural Documentaries to Short and Full Feature Films, Reality Shows, TV Shows, Talk Shows, Sports and Musical Videos.
